In 1745, the Cassis family moved from the village of Kfar Alma al-Sha'ab Elma Sha'ab in southern Lebanon to live in the Galilee. The family lived in the northwest tower in the king's fortress برج قلعة الملك. The family worked in agriculture and made a living from growing tobacco and grape vineyards, a sticky variety from the grapes produced arak in a traditional production. The prison house was built between 1908 and 1914 outside the fortress wall. In 2000, Basel planted a grape vineyard with a height of 520, a sticky variety for private use. In the same year, the idea was born that the family home would serve as a visitor center, and since then Basel has been hosting guides with tourist groups and visitors to the village. In 2004 two more vineyards were planted for the production of Arak from grapes and anise berries. The arak is produced double distillation and triple distillation strength 53% and a premium product four stages of production strength 60%
